Here are our 3 keys to balancing career and family!
Because no one ever said balancing a successful full-time career and anything else was easy.
It’s worth it, though.
Here’s a short testimony from a working mom we found interesting and convincing that career and family can be crazy, but very possible:
“My typical day: dropping the kids off to school, run to work. During lunch break use the time do the food shopping, start dinner preparations, or just throw in some laundry before going back to work. Work a few more hours, run to school and pick up the kids, come home and make dinner, put the kids to bed, and then sit in front of the TV and start relaxing. Yes, a crazy schedule but it all worked out quite nicely. It can all be done if a person is organized. Complaining does not fit into the schedule! “
Here are our 3 fundamental keys to balancing a career and family:
1. It’s all about time management & organization
Sit down and have a look at what needs to be done and when you can handle it. Whether it be what to cook for dinner, when to get that shopping done, or who’s going to take the kids to the pool. Doctor appointments, family visits, the weekend is just too short. Household chores always seem to pile up in the meantime, so you need to find time for that, too! There’s never a dull moment. It’s best to sit down alone or with your husband in peace and quiet and plan out how and when everything will get done.
2. Stay on top of things
We all know that everything changes, all the time. Don’t get frustrated over things not going the way you planned, that’s just life! Instead, work on becoming more flexible and adaptable. Staying on top of things is a good way to ease the “control-freak” within us, but learning how to let go many time is even more important. Baby steps!
3. Don’t waste too much time on planning
Seems like too obvious of a mistake not to make – but think again. A lot of time can go wasted on planning for no good reason. Instead of enjoying free time with our families, we’re sitting at our kitchen table staring at our agenda again. Why? Stressed out about how we will manage all the things we want to do – instead of just doing them! Just relax, and let life happen. Otherwise it passes by before we know it!
